A familiar silhouette
It welcomes its guests even from a distance: its distinctive silhouette and striking yellow colour are visible and recognised far beyond the city limits. The castle’s roots stretch far back into the past. In its present, magnificent form, it was built during the Baroque period between 1687 and 1709 on the very spot where the venerable Humbach Castle once stood.
Today, the castle is not only a historic monument, but a place brimming with life, learning and social interaction. Since 1969, the building has been owned by the Academy of German Cooperatives (ADG). The ADG has developed the historic site with care and a focus on the future: today, the building houses a first-class conference hotel, a modern conference centre and the ADG Business School.
