Crime Scene Montabaur: New guided tour of the town attracts amateur detectives

Der Schusterladen in der Sauertalstraße ist der Ausgangspunkt für die neue Krimi-Stadtführung in Montabaur. Per SMS stehen die Ermittlungsteams mit der „Einsatzzentrale“ in Kontakt.

Now it's getting tricky! The tourist information office in Montabaur is offering a new city experience in the form of a mystery tour: While the amateur detectives solve a complicated kidnapping case, they get to know the town as if by chance. Whether it's a classic guided tour of the town, an adventure tour with the night watchman, a "guided tour of lies" with the Baroness of Monte Taboro or now also as a sleuth on an investigation tour - there are many ways to explore the town of Montabaur.

The case to be solved is quickly told: Daniel Botros is a shoemaker in Montabaur and a passionate inventor. He is supposed to give a lecture on his latest invention at a conference in the Schlemmer Hotel. But shortly before, he disappears without a trace and remains as if he had vanished off the face of the earth. Has he been kidnapped? If so, who is behind it - and with what motive? Clever investigators solve this case while at the same time getting to know the cobbler's town with its sights and unknown corners.

Anyone who wants to get on the trail sends an SMS to the "Operations Centre" and becomes a detective. The tools of the trade are a detective's file with a description of the case, the profile of the victim and suspicious persons from his environment, and a map on which places are marked that have to be visited to solve the case. The castle, the Wolfsturm, the footpath to the ICE railway station, the cobbler's shop at Konrad-Adenauer-Platz: everywhere there are clues that fit together like puzzle pieces and lead to solving the mysterious story. The tour starts at the cobbler's shop in Sauertalstraße. All other points can be visited in any order.

Daniel's daughter Anne has raised the alarm. She wants her father to be found. Or is this a feint? Lawyer Sabrina Wechsler has professional dealings with the shoemaker and his invention. Kristian Bois, an employee of a Frankfurt fashion company, takes flight when he is to be questioned. Minka Teuben works as a hotel manageress at the conference venue and is not a blank slate.

It is all so intricate that one should not set out on the trail alone. A team can share the work, is more likely to find its way out of dead ends and develop new approaches together. Above all, it is great fun to crack this nut together! Clues that are found are sent to the head office by text message. If the investigation gets bogged down, helpful tips come from there. When your head is spinning and overtime threatens, you should take a break - preferably in a restaurant or café in the historic city centre. At the end of the approximately two-hour tour, one thing is certain: He did it! No, it was her! The warrant code will reveal whether the team did a good job.

And this is how the mystery tour works: Interested sleuths come to the Montabaur Tourist Information Office at the Grosser Markt. Here they will get the crime file and the solution code. If you want, you can also order the package online at:

www.krimi-trails.de/produkt/montabaur-schuhmacher. The cost is 28 euros for a group of up to five people. Good shoes should be worn for the tour. This is where Daniel Botros' invention could come in handy!
